Book Notes: Praying Through Your Pregnancy

The following is an excerpt from ‘Praying Through Your Pregnancy (A week-by-week guide)’ by Jennifer Polimino and Carolyn Warren. You can also get the Kindle Edition for your kindle. The following are notes that I want to read over again and declare over my pregnancy and labour experience. Hope the words will speak life into you too. 🙂

Praying through your pregnancy

Labour and Delivery Tips

The Lord was with me through the entire time, and He answered my prayers for a smooth, fast delivery. Instead of thinking how scared you are of labour or fearing how much pain you might have, thank God for giving you this wonderful experience. He will bless you beyond measure. He has great blessings in store for you. Let’s just praise Him and give Him all of the glory.

Five Tips for having a good labour and delivery experience:

  1. Let go of fear. Stress, tension and fear make pain worse, so there’s no sense in holding on to those negative emotions. Trust is a choice. We can choose to say no to worry and yes to placing our trust in the Lord. This week is a good time to meditate on Scriptures like Proverbs 3:5-6.
  2. Concentrate on the positive. “I am getting better at relaxing.” “Labour is a natural process.” “I can do this.” Speaking positive affirmations goes a long way toward having a better birth experience.
  3. Have a good coach. Having the support of someone who helps you relax, stay positive and do the breathing techniques.
  4. Listen to music. God gave us music to lift us up. God dwells in the praises of His people, so worship music brings the Holy Spirit into the room.
  5. Have prayer support. Make a list of people who will agree to pray for you while you’re in labour and delivery.

(p.s. There are 10 tips listed in the book, but I think the other advice is not applicable to all and varies with individual.)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

A Mother’s Prayer

#1

Dear Lord, I come to this week with praise in my heart, knowing that in Nehemiah it says that Your gracious hand is upon me. I know You will bless this delivery, Lord, and that my labour will be manageable and You will be with me the whole time. Please take away any fear that I may have, and help this baby to come quickly and safely. You are a great nad powerful God. I know that if I praise You, You will rain down Your blessings from above. I believe that You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. This is a new beginning for my baby, for our family. We praise You for this wonderful gift.

Thank You, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.

Dear Lord, This week is my due date. I thank You for helping make it to full term in my pregnancy. I am looking forward to welcoming by baby into our home. Lord, please help my baby come at just theright time. Bless my labour and delivery. Give the medical staff wisdom to make all the right decisions. Help me be strong during delivery. Help me trust in You. I pray that Your sweet presence would fill the room with joy as I deliver the baby and we welcome him into this world.

Lord I know You are a good God and I choose to put my trust in You. Be with me now and every moment of the day. Let me be aware of Your presence with me. Reveal Yourself more to me so I can know You and love You more.

Thank You, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.

Dear Lord, You know when this baby is ready, and I will praise Your name. Jesus, give me peace and rest during these last days before the baby arrives. Make this baby healthy and strong. Please bring the right people to help me deliver this baby. Please let me have this baby in the way I wish, and in the way that’s best for my child, whether natural or C-section. You know what is right for me and my baby. You are a great and wonderful God who has given me a beautiful gift: the gift of life.

I praise Your name, Jesus. Amen.
